When my Grandmother died I had the aberrant pleasure of helping to clean out her condo.
Among other worthless treasures, tucked under piles of books and old photo albums next to her dresser I discovered a box of postcards.

Stacks of empty postcards she'd collected from her travels. Postcards filled up with the distinctive script of family. Postcards of hotels with a little pin prick in the window of the room the sender was staying at (how clever!). I even found a postcard from her father who passed away when she was ten. Who needs money when you have gold?

It was like finding another missing puzzle piece of my soul. I've always loved postcards. I don't know why. I started collecting them when I was a little girl. I had a stack of them locked in my secret dresser drawer so no one would steal them (gold I tell you). When the stack got so big that the rubber band snapped I decided to plaster my walls with them. Maybe they help me remember places I've been. Imagine places I'll never go. Either way, now they make me think of my Grandmother.

I designed these farm flora inspired postcards using vintage botanical prints. I'm always making shop postcards and mostly giving them away for free. It's a bad business model, but postcards were meant to be sent just like soap was made to be used just like seeds are supposed to be sowed. Perfect if you're a postcard junky like me. And if you're not...it's never too late to start.
