Scatter seeds or plant seeds 1/8" on well worked soil. Purple Coneflower seeds need to be stratified. Stratification is a process where winter conditions are simulated so that germination may occur. Seeds may be sown in fall for natural stratification or simply store seeds in an airtight container in the freezer for at least 24 hours before sowing. Like many perennials purple coneflower requires one full season of growth to establish root structure before flowering.
