E T H O S

We believe in living a life of mystical awareness. Connecting with the natural elements + the wild magic contained within plants, animals, and landscape. We believe in honoring the great spirits of all who came before us. We believe in the authenticity of craftsmanship. That doing things slowly with intention + care is a meditation. That skills are meant to be shared + passed on, respected + honored. That if we sacrifice quality in the name of progress we destroy part of what it means to be human.

We believe in the importance of slowing.
Of breathing.
Of being here now.
Of work, of play, of presence.
Of craft, of skill, of timeless tradition.

We are horticulturalists, growers + makers of botanical products, lovers of old storied-things, and musicians in the ethereal-psych//dream-pop band The Parlor, as well as the minimalist neo-classical project John John The Baptist. We work our small farmstead the old fashioned way -in a nod to our elders//our ancestors//and Mother Earth; utilizing farming practices that aim to support the land, the environment, the wildlife, and all who dwell on it.

The Kirk Estate is situated on Mahican ancestral land in Upstate New York. We are its current caretakers: wife and husband team Jen O'Connor + Eric Krans. In 2006, Jen became the fifth generation of Kirk lineage to live at the farmhouse and its surrounding 5 acres. Since our arrival we have added over 3,000 square feet of organic vegetable gardens, a dozen additional fruit trees, grapes, hops, herbs, and extensive flower gardens. It is our ultimate goal to grow and preserve this land, always with the respect and honor of the environment, and the wild magic it contains, at the forefront.
